Our Mission is to get Safer Products
into the hands of Everyone
Could you imagine a place where companies were allowed to put anything into products consumers used daily?
Imagine being exposed to cancer causing chemicals or hormone disrupting ingredients 365 days a year. Or how about your children. This is basically a picture of the current state of affairs is in the U.S. personal care products and cosmetics industry. But it won't be for long. There is a movement for safer and I feel fortunate, and obligated, to be a part of it. Beautycounter exists to be part of the solution to this health concern that many Americans aren't even aware of. The toxic environmental factors we are surrounded with daily are affecting our health and our skin is our largest organ. Beautycounter is not just another beauty brand. Neither are we just another make up brand or direct sales company. We are a mission driven, women owned corporation using business to do good. We are shifting public policy through education, advocacy, and we are providing a safer alternative for families in the U.S. and in Canada. Our Never List, is a list of nearly 1500 ingredients we promise never to use because of their links to health concerns like infertility, auto immune disease, and cancer. And one of our platforms is direct sales, because this important message is best told person to person. I couldn't imagine a better charge than to help move our nation to a healthier future while creating substantial income for my family. I do this while helping others find safer or by building a business. We are a movement |
MY STORY
Becoming a mother (2014) really changed my perspective on how I earn income. For one, the cost of living in Hawaii is sky high, and two, now that I had a little nugget to love and care for; I needed to figure out how to provide for us without having to send him away.
Thankfully, my dad invited me to work the family business (Steel) so that I could have my son with me while I worked. It was such a blessing, however, my income was still not enough to be self-sufficient. I decided to try Direct Sales with a popular skincare company and had a decent business for a while. Fast forward to December 2016 and I now had a 2 year old and 2 month old infant. I attended an event where the light bulb really went off in my head that AHA! What we put on our skin matters and can affect our health. I. had. no. idea. This aha moment led to months of looking into things. I'd have to say the defining moment was when I recognized some ingredients in my baby's body wash that were considered questionable. I was angered and shocked! It is not common knowledge that what we put on our bodies can be linked to various health issues. I thought this just wasn't fair. I wanted to change things for us and be part of the solution for others. I made the switch. With this company I've been able to serve many women and families, I've been on an advocacy trip to Washington DC, provide a substantial bit more to my family's income, and I continue to grow a base of knowledge and influence here in Hawaii and beyond, because of the opportunity given me with Beautycounter. |
