Why on earth would I want to put OIL on my face?!?
That was my initial thought when I heard about Facial Oils. I figured, for sure that is just going to cause acne, and maybe are just for bougie older women who like to be extra with the skincare.
I got a little schooled on facial oils and want to share with you 5 reasons why you want to add an oil to your skincare routine now.
5 REASONS YOU NEED A FACIAL OIL
1) ANTI-AGING PERKS
Besides being fantastic for dry skin, facial oils can actually reduce wrinkles. Not all facial oils are created equal, but those packed with antioxidants can help prevent further aging by protecting from free radical damage.
2) PROTECT & NOURISH
Facial Oils are skin super heroes! Oils can penetrate your skin and help keep bad stuff out like toxins, pollution and dirt All while delivering essential vitamins and antioxidants. They protect while they nourish!
4) SOOTHE SKIN / FIGHT BREAKOUTS
Facial Oils can soothe skin and actually fight acne! It’s true. Oils like Beautycounter’s No.3 Balancing Oil works to restore your skin’s balance with jojoba, grapeseed, and sesame oil, which are great at moisturizing your skin while curbing excess sebum/oil production.
5) SIMPLICITY + LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY
They are super simple to use and a little goes a long way! You can add 2-3 drops of oil into your moisturizer or apply to clean skin and follow with moisturizer. Or simply use the oil on its own!

Important things to keep in mind in selecting a facial oil
Select facial oils made from natural ingredients rather than synthetic. Plant-based oils absorb much better and won’t be contaminated with hydrocarbons - which mineral oils can potentially be.
Choose a facial oil best suited for your skin type. I can recommend one of Beautycounter’s Facial Oils which are created for Brightening, Plumping, or Balancing. They smell incredible and made with the highest safety standards.
Facial Oils have loads of skin benefits for any skin type, just be sure to find one made with quality ingredients. Some oils nourish, while some may irritate, so be cautious of ingredients, and a good idea is always to do a patch test with new products.
